2016 Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks Haylie West

I am Haylie West and I am honored to be the 2016 Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks.

I am a senior at Prairie Grove High School, and after college I plan to pursue my bachelors degree in nursing.

Growing up I did not come from the traditional “Rodeo Queen Background.” I had always loved horses, yet the idea of rodeo did not enter my life until I was about 8 years old when I attended my very first rodeo. After seeing the barrel racers and rodeo queens I fell in love. I knew that rodeo was something I wanted to be a part of my life. However, there was a slight problem… I lived in the middle of Bentonville and there was no way my mom was going to let a 1200 pound animal live in our backyard. A few years passed but I never gave up. Eventually I moved to the country, received my first horse, and was on my way.

I barrel raced, pole bended and even held a couple rodeo queen titles (2014 Westville Jr. Rodeo Queen and the 2015 Lincoln Riding Club Rodeo Queen). I was living my dream. I have learned throughout my journey that with a lot of faith, determination and positive thinking, anything is possible. And here I am today, the 2016 Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks. Receiving this title is like none other. I have truly been blessed with an amazing God and strong support system. It is my mission as the 2016 Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks to encourage everyone I encounter and remind them that just because the odds may be stacked against you doesn’t mean that your dreams aren’t possible.I can not begin to list the many people that have helped me get where I am today and I give all glory to God.

I am excited to represent such a wonderful rodeo and educate everyone about Rodeo of the Ozarks and the rodeo lifestyle. I want to encourage everyone to follow my journey on my “Miss Rodeo of the Ozarks 2016 Haylie West” Facebook page.
