2017 Rodeo Youth Events
Rodeo of the Ozarks prides itself with being an event for the entire family! This year we’ve added to our youth events so that there is something for kids ages 4-10. We look forward to seeing you at the rodeo!
Mutton Bustin (ages 4-6)
Hang On! It will soon be time for the 2017 Mutton Bustin Championship. Mutton Bustin’ has grown to be one of the most popular events at the Rodeo of the Ozarks. The contest, for 4 – 6 year olds under 55 pounds, consists of the youngsters riding a sheep out of a bucking chute and into the rodeo arena. Like the cowboy bucking events, time and score count, but all the contestants receive trophies. Participants will be required to wear a long sleeve shirt and jeans. Each competitor will be timed and judged on their riding skills. Participants will be required to set up straight, no “choke holds”. Mutton Bustin begins at 6:30 p.m. before the Rodeo. The top riders each night will ride again during the rodeo performance to determine who advances to the finals on last night of the rodeo. A half-hour before, kids “meet the sheep” and will be outfitted in protective helmets. Then they will get their last minute instructions from organizers and their parents. Only 1 parent will be allowed in the arena with the participants. The event is limited to 50 children each night. Entries will be accepted starting May 30th, 2017.
Calf Scramble (ages 7-10)
Rodeo of the Ozarks prides itself in being a family entertainment event, which is why we have added the Calf Scramble for ages 7-10. Ribbons will be tied to the calves’ tails, and the first 3 kids to return with one will get a cash prize!
